In the Ayurvedic tradition, health is seen as a dynamic balance of body, mind, and spirit—a state of harmony between the doshas, the dhatus, and the rhythms of nature. True healing begins when we recognize that this balance is not something given to us, but something we cultivate with awareness and intention.
The support of family, community, practitioners, and even the divine is meaningful and real—but the deepest transformation comes when we choose to participate in our own healing journey.
Though we cannot control every aspect of life, Ayurveda teaches us that through conscious daily choices—dinacharya, nourishing food, mindful movement, rest, and connection—we can gently realign with our natural state of health.
Good health is not a fixed outcome, but a living process. When we believe in its possibility, we begin to return to our truest nature—one of vitality, clarity, and inner peace.
Over the past 47 years of practicing mainstream medicine—integrated with complementary and alternative approaches—I’ve come to deeply appreciate that each person’s needs, preferences, and expectations are unique. There is no one-size-fits-all path to healing. Some individuals are drawn to natural, holistic remedies, while others seek more immediate, conventional solutions.
As a physician, I believe it’s essential to offer a full spectrum of options and to empower patients to choose the approach that resonates most with them. Healing is most effective when it honors both individual choice and the diversity of tools available.
I met Dr. Gopal 25 years ago when I came in with a gynecological issue that in Western medicine is usually determined to be chronic and lifelong. The treatment would manage the disorder but would ultimately worsen the situation so I went to Tirun for another opinion. He told me to take a leap of faith and let him use an Ayurvedic treatment instead. It would entail the use of oil and turmeric and would take months, but it also would “cure” the condition. It did. I kept him as my gynecologist and he was wonderful.
After many years he moved away. Since that time my husband and I have had a few serious problems and have reached out to him for Ayurvedic advice. He always responded immediately and with great care and compassion. His advice proved invaluable and made us feel that we were in charge of our health again. The situations have turned around with the help of western and eastern medicine.
Using Ayurveda, Tirun treats the whole person, which we have found to be particularly effective when dealing with chronic problems. We are eternally grateful to our doctor, and now our friend, for all that he has done for us. Asking Tirun to help us with our health journey was the best “leap of faith” decision I ever made.

Initially, and for several years, I sought help from many doctors in two systems of medicines: allopathy and homeopathy. These medicines didn’t bring me any long term, durable, and real relief from psoriasis. Eventually, I sought Dr. Gopal’s help about five years ago to try Ayurvedic medicine for my condition.
What immediately impressed me the most was Dr. Gopal’s effort and dedication in diagnosing the root causes of my condition on an individual level, rather than a generic level in which a patient’s individuality is not considered. He set me thinking about (and identifying) the real causes of my disease, and how my diet, daily routines, and living conditions impacted my health. He helped me to identify the food types that improved/aggravated my condition, and prescribed medicines to help my digestive system regain its normal health. I continued to consult Dr. Gopal for about a year during which he would regularly check upon my condition and prescribe changes to diet and medicine, with varying degrees of improvement in my condition. I have been following his advice ever since. I have seen clear positive results on and off. Although I have not been fully cured of psoriasis, I have learned to manage it effectively.
Through Dr. Gopal’s teaching and advice, I have identified the main causes of my problem: diet and stress. I have identified specific diets to take and certain specific foods/drinks to avoid. I intend to keep practicing these rules and hope to one day be fully cured. Thank you Dr. Gopal for starting me on this journey.
